I LOST 8.2 POUNDS!  How awesome is THAT!

My first week into Weight Watchers and so far it’s been going pretty nifty!  I’m staying within my points, I’m getting some workouts in (mostly elliptical, some running/walking), I’m still managing to have my little indulgences (hello Buffalo Wild Wings!) but I’m accounting for everything and in some cases trying to plan around it.

I’m trying to eat more fruits and vegetables (which are 0 point) and NOT eating entire pizzas or raiding the menu at McDonalds. :)   I haven’t felt “stuffed and crappy” since I started, but am not starving myself either.

I know I can’t expect to duplicate this kind of loss every week, but it was definitely a nice start.  I still want to get some more workouts in, and I still need to try to meet all of my Good Health Guidelines (minimum recommendations of certain healthy foods), but I feel I’ve taking the right first steps…again… :P

Mar 102011

So tonight was my first Weight Watchers meeting, and thus my first Weight Watchers weigh in.

My starting weight for this program is 292.4lbs. It’s kind of discouraging right off the bat, because my home scale says I’m about 287. But I also weigh myself at home first thing in the morning, mostly nekkid, and not soaking wet from the torrential downpour outside, so I guess that can account for some of the discrepancy.

Since it’s only the starting weight though, I won’t sweat it. It’ll only go down from there. :)

My meeting was cool, and the Leader was very nice. I have to admit that I felt a little dorky being there though. I don’t know why, nothing was talked about there that isn’t talked about on the blogs or twitter. I guess it just felt different in person.

I can learn to get over that though, because the meetings seem like they’ll be a great tool, and the other attendees seemed really nice.

We’ll see how this goes. I have a lot of new tools at my disposal, another support system, and recharged motivation. I can do this. :)

I need to start off by saying that this week is dragging!  It feels like it should be much later than Wednesday. But alas…

My first Weight Watchers weigh in is tomorrow.  And I’m kind of nervous.

Not so much nervous about whether or not I’ve lost anything, because it’s the only the “first”…officially anyway.  I would like to see if I’ve lost anything since I started counting points on Sunday night though.

The main thing I’m nervous about is weighing in IN FRONT OF PEOPLE.  Sure I’ve posted my weights on here (fairly) regularly, but it’s going to feel different to do in front of others.  It needs to be done though, and like I said before, I think going to the meetings (instead of doing it completely online) is going to help with the motivation.

Going back to the whole Points thing…I gotta say that so far I really do like the Points Plus program.  I don’t really know how the old system was, so I can’t compare it to that, but from a fresh perspective, its pretty cool.  I love that I’m not counting calories, rather the points (which are based off of fat, carbs, sugar protein (thanks TJ!) and fiber).  I like that most (maybe all, I havent investigated too much yet) fruits and vegetables are considered zero point, and I like that I can pretty much each anything I want, so like as I account for it.  Yeah, I could do that with calorie counting too, but I always got really discouraged when I saw how many calories I was taking in.  When I add up some of the foods I like and see that I can still work their point values, it feels pretty good.  I don’t know if this is an “ignorance is bliss” scenario in a way, because I’m not looking at the actual calories at all, but if the system will work, then I’m willing to give it a try.

Anywho, that’s all I got for now.  I’ll probably tweet the weight before I post it, but there will be a weigh in post tomorrow.

Have a great day!
