It’s back!

It’s that time again for Awesome by August, the weight loss challenge hosted by Kerri, Brooke and I!  WooHoo!

For those of you who missed the fun last year, Awesome by August is a weight loss challenge that runs through the month of July and encourages healthy weight loss, as well as other healthy living goals.

For those who did participate last year, there are going to be a few changes this time around, the major one being that the challenge will be done mostly on Facebook this time around.  That is where we will be doing the weekly weigh ins, and where others will be other post about their successes, struggles, etc… We will still be using on #awesomebyaugust hashtag on twitter though, and I will still be blogging about it as well.  :)

Here are the official rules!

  • Sign up is from today until Tuesday July 12th at 10pm EST.  You can sign up by liking the Awesome by August Facebook Page!
  • The challenge runs from July 11th, 2011 to August 8th, 2011.  That’s four weeks of awesomeness.
  • A status update asking for weigh ins will be posted weekly, and you can respond with your weight in the comments.  You have until 10pm EST on July 12thfor the inital weigh in, after that ALL other weigh ins must be posted by each Monday at midnight EST.
  • Everyone who participates in each weekly weigh in will be entered in the drawing for a prize (winners will be randomly selected).  Those who participate in ALL weigh ins are eligible for a second prize, which will also be randomly selected.
  • Pariticpants will also be encouraged to have non weight related goals as well, and to post them on the facebook page.  Whether it be run a 5k, bench 200lbs, whatever you’d like :)
  • Have fun!

I have become absolutely horrible at this blogging thing!

I’ve been posting my weigh ins, but other than that I’ve gotten pretty bad at updating this thing.

Not to mention that I haven’t read any of my other favorite blogs in a while :(

I’ve become pretty bad with Twitter too, except for the occasional psychotic rant with Kerri and Cassie.

I still love having the blog, and have made MANY awesome friends through this whole experience, I just need to work on keeping up with everyone.

And I will!

So for starters, how are you? :)

Hi folks!

I’ve decided to make changes to the blog here, most noticably for now is the name.

Welcome to the Blog of Steve!

I decided to change the blog name for a number of reasons. 

For one thing, I no longer weigh 265lbs.  I’m currently sitting in the 270s, so in that regard, the name doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Secondly, eventually I will no longer be “falling”…even though that’s a ways off, the blog was eventually going to outgrow the name anyway.

Thirdly (is that a word), I want to be able to talk about other stuff every once in a while, without feeling like it’s totally out of place.  Weight loss, diet, exercise and all that is great, but sometimes it feels like I am saying the same thing over and over again.  Look, I lost weight! Look, I gained! Look, I gained again! Bla, bla bla…

While losing weight and getting in shape is very important, and will remain a central point here (I didn’t forget about my 20 pound goal!), I’d like to have the option to go off on another tangent every so often.  Those who follow me on Twitter know that I talk about all sorts of shit sometimes, so know I feel more comfortable doing it here.  Some people establish seperate blogs for this, but honestly, I have a hard enough time keeping up with THIS one sometimes, having another blog would probably make my brain explode.

So there ya have it.  Right now there haven’t been any changes to the site, but over the next few weeks I might tweak some of the pages, fix links, start a redesign, and all that jazz.  I already messed up something last night and nearly destroyed the blog for a few hours (which was a nightmare), so changes might be slow going for the time being.

If anyone links to me, if you could update your link to http://www.blogofsteve.com, it would be appreciated.  The old link (http://www.265andfalling.com) is still going to work, but I’d like to phase it out.

I’ve also changed my Twitter handle as well.  If you followed me before, all I did was change the name, so you still follow me (how exciting for you!)! :D   If you didn’t already follow me though, you can reach me here.

Hopefully none of you guys will decide to peace out, especially since weight loss will still be a primary blog topic.  If you choose to stop reading though, then I wish you all the best!
