I have become absolutely horrible at this blogging thing!

I’ve been posting my weigh ins, but other than that I’ve gotten pretty bad at updating this thing.

Not to mention that I haven’t read any of my other favorite blogs in a while :(

I’ve become pretty bad with Twitter too, except for the occasional psychotic rant with Kerri and Cassie.

I still love having the blog, and have made MANY awesome friends through this whole experience, I just need to work on keeping up with everyone.

And I will!

So for starters, how are you? :)

Triforce!

I just came back from another one of Les Mills Body classes.  This time was BodyCombat, and I have to say it was a lot of fun.  Here is the description from the Les Mills site:

BODYCOMBAT™ is the empowering cardio workout where you are totally unleashed. This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. Supported by driving music and powerful role model instructors, you strike, punch, kick and kata your way through calories to superior cardio fitness.

I have a little itty bit of experience in Tae Kwon Do, and it’s something I’ve been wanting to get back into, but a martial arts-ish class like this for the time being is a good (and cheaper) alternative.  I wouldn’t consider it to be nearly as intense as BodyPump and BodyAttack, but it’s still a lot of fun and is a good workout.  I was (jokingly) calling these three classes my Triforce of Pain, but it’s a good pain, and I think a mix of these three classes would be a good way to go weekly.  I’m noticing that I’m pushing myself harder than I really would on my own, mostly because I don’t want to look like a pussy in front of my classmates :)   There are some other classes I want to try too, like RPM and Aqua Sculpt, so we’ll see how everything fits into (hopefully) a nice routine.

Running, Walking, and Cycling, oh my!

I was looking on my training breakdown on Dailymile this morning, and I came to see something…

I suck.  Especially lately! My mileage has been terrible all around these past few months, and even into September, which was supposed to be my ”reset.”  I want to try to break the trend though, so between now and the end of October I would like to push to add 200 miles to my mileage totals.  100 of those miles will be cycling, and 100 of those miles will be running/walking.  I’m still grouping running and walking together because I know I have some work to do before I’m able to run like I was earlier in the year, but hopefully by the end of October I will have made some headway.  I pulled off 200 miles in January, it was hard, but I did it, so I know I can do another round.

Weigh-Ins

I’m kind of worried that I am going to have a gain this week.  The scale has been looking that way and I don’t exactly think I can turn it around in the next two days.  After Tuesday though, I’m considering going to bi-weekly weigh ins.  The scale really is just a number, and it isn’t giving you the number you want, it can really devastate your mindset.  And even when you are doing a good job, it’s still possible to have a bad week. So with that in mind, I’d like to focus more on just trying to get fit and not worrying about what the scale says (although I do hope it’ll still turn out favorably). I was originally considering going to monthly weigh ins, but I don’t know if I could stand to wait that long, to be honest.

Anniversary

I started this blog on October 8th, 2009, which means my one year blogiversary is approaching!  I wish I had more to show for it, like six pack abs or killer biceps, but the journey definitely hasn’t been easy.  While in some ways this year has been lackluster, in other ways I do think I’ve kicked ass.  Year two will have less lackluster and more asskicking though, I promise you that :)   If you want to send me presents though, I’m more than willing to accept them (I kid, I kid)!

That’s all I got for now, peeps. Hope you’ve had a great weekend.

Mar 222010

This past weekend was truly one of the best weekends I’ve had in a very long time.  I had so much fun, met a ton of new people, made a ton of new friends, learned quite a bit more about the blogging process, got all sorts of free swag, etc…etc…etc…

Here a few pictures from the weekend:

This was the view from my hotel room for the weekend, which was at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, where the conference was also held.  Now, I live right outside of Baltimore City, so this wasn’t anything I haven’t seen before, but this was first time actually spending the night in the city, and it was very nice seeing the beautiful Inner Harbor out of my window.

Me with the lovely Sue (aka MrsFatass), who was my Fitbloggin’ BFF :)   We had a ton of fun (and a few Tequila shots, WooT!).

Me with the lovely Carla (aka MizFit), at a bar on the Inner Harbor.  She is just as awesome in person as she in on her blog.  I loved every minute of being in her presence.

Holy crap, look at all the free shit I got!!!!!  We recieved a gift bag at registration full of stuff from POM Wonderful, Quaker, Skinny Cow, to name a few.  Since I registered for the New Balance 5k, I also got free running shoes…to KEEP!!! WooT!  Everyone who signed up was also given a Gruve.  A Gruve is a little thing you wear on your waise that tracks how much you move and keeps track of the calories to burn.  We all thought we were only trying them out, and would have to return them…but then they should we could keep them.  WOOHOO!  I didn’t wear it much during the conference, but I’ve had it all since then and may try to write a review soon.

MORE FREE SWAG!  This was a gift from Sue.  Those of you who follow me on twitter may know about the whole big love thing I have going on with her, Ryan (aka nomorebacon) and Sam (aka Slimminsam).  I didn’t wear the shirt out :-P   but I did sleep in it and it was super comfortable :)

This was the whole lot of us on Saturday morning, right before the Fitbloggin’ 5k.  I was uber tired and extremely hungover, but I ran it.  My time was much slower than Mighty Medford (ran it in about 40 minutes), but that’s okay, because I will rock it next year :)

I love Jennette Fulda.  I had recently read her awesome book and love her blog, and when I found out she was going to be at the conference, I knew I had to meet her and get her autograph.  Success!!!  I probably came off as being really wierd and creepy (I’m sorry if I did, Pastaqueen!) but this was like meeting a celebrity, so of course I wasn’t going to be able to keep it together.  I’ll have to work on that.

All in all, this was truly an incredible experience.  I wish I had more pictures, because I met so many awesome people!  Mary, AJ, FitInMyHeart, JourneyBeyondSurvival, Jen in Real Life, Fitarella, Benjamin Teal, TrulyTrayce, YumYucky, LoserforLife, and so many others!  I also learned alot about the blogging process, which I hope will help improve my writing here.

WooT!

How was YOUR weekend?  Were you at Fitbloggin?  If you were, what did you think?

I can’t wait for next year! :)
