So it hasn’t started snowing…yet, but the day is young.  IT’S COMING, and it’s ready to deliver a big ol’ F*CK YOU to me and my weekend. BOO!

HUNDRED PUSHUPS / TWO HUNDRED SITUPS / TWO HUNDRED SQUATS

This week was only inital tests for the each of the challenges, which are used to determine what level you should be starting out at. Here are the results for each:

  • One Hundred Pushups Initial Test: 9
  • Two Hundred Situps Initial Test: 17
  • Two Hundred Squats Initial Test: 72

Basically, I suck :-P   BUT, thats okay, because the point of these challenges is to make myself stronger and better.  The one that scared me the most (and I bombed the worst at) was the one hundred pushups test, because I don’t have much upper body strength whatsoever.  That one that SURPRISED me the most was the situps, I guess I just got used to doing crunches, so I wasn’t expecting the pain in my tailbone. Ugh.  But it’s only the beginning, so lets see how this goes!

PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week:

  • Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–10.6 pounds down, 3.4 more pounds to go.  This was a very exciting week to weigh in as it saw me hit the 30lb mark.  If I keep up this pace I might even SURPASS the 15 pound goal. WooT!
  • Run/walk/jog 200 miles107.55 miles down. I completed the 100 mile running challenge last weekend, but haven’t really done alot since.  I’m supposed to have a 4 mile race this weekend, but the fate of that is dependent upon the weather, I guess. Ugh.
  • Strength train at least twice a weekSurprisingly, I’ve actually been doing very good with this!  I did some form of strength training on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Run a 5k road raceNo change here, 5k is done, still getting ready for The Bear Run 4-Miler.  Hopefully it still happens, but I don’t know because of the weather.
  • Finish at least one of this semesters college coursesWorking on it, still…
  • Beat Super Mario Brothers WiiI am in World 8, so its close. .

Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes:  I’d like to think there are alot of things that I’m not afraid of, but I do have two major fears.  Death is one, which is pretty understandable and in many ways self-explanatory, I think.  The other is cockroaches.  Those little f*ckers freak the hell out of me.  My dads house was infested with them for a point in time, and I hated when I had to stay over there.  If I was sleeping on the couch and I felt ANYTHING touch me, brush me, whatever…I’d jump up and be a wreck for the rest of the night.

    HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting a Habit.A.Week Challenge. The goal is easy enough, to make a small change each work in order to live a healthier lifestyle.  The “habit” this week was to slow down your eating.

It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register itself as being full.  If you are like me, you can do A LOT of damage in 20 minutes.  By slowing down your eating, not only do you actually get to enjoy what you are eating, but you give your body and mind time to register that you’ve eaten it, so hopefully you’ll be less likely to shove your face.  I try to do this, but sometimes I still find myself mindlessly putting food in my mouth. Ugh.

    .

That’s enough about me, how are YOU doing with your goals?

TGIF and have a great weekend!

Round four of challenge updates, and almost through with the first month of 2010.  How am I doing so far?  You be the judge…

    NEW YEAR CHALLENGES

New Year 100 Mile Running Challenge
-Only three days left, and 18.86 miles to go.  I can still rock this b*tch, but it does kind of suck that I’ve let it get down to the wire like this.  I honestly though I’d be closer to being done, if not already done, by now.

New Year 500 Mile Biking Challenge
-I’ve already accepted the fact that I am not going to get to 500 miles w/ this challenge, but I want to at least get 100 miles under my belt. I am currently at 92.9 miles, so I have 7.1 miles left.

This is going to be a cardio loaded weekend, it looks like :)

    PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week:

  • Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–7.6 pounds down, 7.4 pounds to go.  This past weeks weigh in was less than spectacular, but I still lost.  I’m hoping for a few good weeks to come up though.
  • Run/walk/jog 200 miles81.14 miles down, and I plan to be halfway done (100 miles) by the end of weekend. My spiffy new runinng shoes will certainly help w/ this goal. WooT!
  • Strength train at least twice a weekUhh…success, actually!  WOOHOO!  I did strength training in the gym on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and I did a little bit at home this morning w/ my dumbbells.  It’s a start…
  • Run a 5k road raceNo change here, 5k is done, still getting ready for The Bear Run 4-Miler.
  • Finish at least one of this semesters college coursesNot yet, but working on it.  School sucks, bla bla bla…
  • Beat Super Mario Brothers WiiHalfway through World 6, F*CK YEAH!  Made a goal for myself to be in World 7 by Tuesday.  I’m sure I’ll be able to get some play time in, so we’ll see.
  •

Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes:  I hate bananas.  I think the texture, the taste, and the smell are amongst the most disgusting things in existence.  Anything banana flavored as well is a no go.  I can usually fair a bit better w/ flavored things (I don’t like strawberrys for example, but I like strawberry flavored stuff), but anything and everything banana is just gross.

    HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting a Habit.A.Week Challenge. The goal is easy enough, to make a small change each work in order to live a healthier lifestyle.  The “habit” however, was two fold, it was the increase your fiber intake, BUT, if you already eat enough fiber, to eat it from real food (as in fruits, veggies, beans, etc…not fiber one bars, yogurt, etc..)

Umm…yeah.  I always try to get the full daily value of fiber in, sure, but most of my fiber comes from Fiber One cereal.  One cup of that and you are good to go.  I have certainly upped the veggie intake and all, but not enough to ensure enough fiber, so I rely on the cereal. This one needs some work.

That’s all I have for now.  I am looking forward to finalizing the January New Year Challenges this weekend, and then moving forward into February.  What’s next, you ask? Stay tuned…

TGIF and have a great weekend!

Round three of my Challenges Updates!  How are you all doing with your goals in the new year?

    NEW YEAR CHALLENGES

New Year 100 Mile Running Challenge
-I am in 4th place with 59.34 miles. As of this writing I am neck and neck with Karyn, who has logged 59.95 miles.  Kickass, right?  We have a little less than a week and half left, and I’m still confident that I can finish this thing, and hopefully soon.  Weather permitting, I want to log some long walk/runs this weekend, so we’ll see :)

New Year 500 Mile Biking Challenge
-God, I am sucking at this challenge.  I am totally ready and willing to admit that I tried to take on too much at one time.  I have only logged 79.47 miles, but I want to at least get 100 miles in before the challenge ends.  Totally need to give a shout out to Alex though, 341.02 miles?  SCHAWEET!

    PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week:

  • Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–WooT! I am down 7.2 pounds, and super excited to finally be making some progress!  Maybe I’ll even lose MORE than 15 pounds :)
  • Run/walk/jog 200 miles59.34 miles down, which means I logged a little over 25 miles since last week, AND, I’m over a quarter of the way done.  I can accept that :)
  • Strength train at least twice a weekFAIL!  It is very nice to know that I’m not alone in my feelings about strength traning, but I did still manage to get one upper body routine in.  This is something I definitely need to work on.
  • Run a 5k road raceDone, and done. I am now preparing myself for another race though, The Bear Run 4-Miler. WooT!
  • Finish at least one of this semesters college coursesUhh…not yet, but I did some work done for the class.  With my current plan I have until mid-march, but I really want to finish it up sooner.
  • Beat Super Mario Brothers WiiI haven’t really played since last week, so I’m still only past the first castle of World 5.  Lava has been replaced by some pinkish purple goo in this world, but it kills you just as well. WTF.
  •

Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes:  This isn’t my first attempt at blogging, but has been the most successful by far.  Back in the day I jumped on the bandwagon with a bunch of friends and had my own blogger and livejournal blogs.  I found them not too long ago, and I couldn’t believe they were even still online.  Reading them, I realized I was a very whiny 20-21 year old, but I also realized that I had some pretty big ambitions back then.  If I stayed on the same track I was on when I wrote those blogs, I would probably be finishing law school right now.  Where am I now?  Struggling to get my bachelors degree. UGH!  Luckily I still have time to turn all of this around, and 4-5 years from now I plan to be in a MUCH better place :)

    HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting a Habit.A.Week Challenge. The goal is easy enough, to make a small change each work in order to live a healthier lifestyle.  The “habit” for this week was to eat more vegetables

…and I’m proud to say that I have been ROCKING THIS!  Most of my snacks this week have consisted of apples and oranges, I’ve had salads for lunch, and I’m made sure I had at least one vegetable side for dinner.  WooT!  Unfortunately, there is still plenty of processed food in my diet though, so I have some work to do, as usual…

    And…that’s it!

TGIF and have a great weekend!
