And we’re off!

Marathon Week officially kicks off today! WooT! Some of you may have started yesterday, which is totally cool too. :)

For those of you just tuning in, the premise is simple.  Run/Walk/Bike/Swim/Elliptical/Rickshaw/Whatever 26.2 miles over the course of 7 days.  You can split it up however you’d like, and do it however you like, just get out there and get moving!

For me, I’ve started the week off with a 3.6 mile walk around my neighborhood.

If I have time later today I will be trying to knock out a few miles, but today is my Aunt’s funeral, so the vast majority of the day will be spent with my family.  I have my eye on the prize though, and I am really excited about this challenge, especially because SO MANY OF YOU are joining in.

So let me know how you are doing!!!

You can…

  • Post your progress in the comments on this blog (I will be doing Marathon Week posts throughout the week),
  • Blog about it yourself (be sure to send me your links though!)
  • Use the #marathonweek hashtag on Twitter.
  • Post your progress on my Facebook Page.
  • Join the Facebook Marathon Week Event and keep us updated there.

Basically, you can do whatever, and update us as often as you’d like.  I like to ask for a final tally of who participated and how many miles they did when the challenge is over, but I’ll give more information on that later.

In the meantime, let’s get running (or walking/elipicalling/whatever!), ya’ll!

Have a great week!

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a workout challenge in this neck of the woods, and I don’t know about you, but I think we are long overdue for one!

So with that said, I’ve decided to bring back a challenge from way in the early days of this blog, and will be hosting a new Marathon Week challenge next week!

He's excited on the inside.

The premise behind this challenge is pretty simple:  To complete 26.2 miles (the length of a marathon) over the course of 7 days.

For some this may be a little daunting, and the whole point is that it is a CHALLENGE, but if you break it down it’s really not so bad.  You could do 3.74 (and some change) miles a day for 7 days, or 5.24 miles a day for 5 days, two half marathons (13.1 miles) or an actual marathon (which would be awesome).

Generally speaking, this would be done by way of running or walking (I’ll be doing a bit of both), but if you want to skip, bike, do it on the elliptical, swim (God help you…), or whatever, then be my guest.  Just get your ass out there and get moving! :)

I had originally had this challenge back in November 2009, and had alot of fun with it.  And I don’t consider this to be as crazy psychotic as some of my other challenges have been, so for me at least, this will be a nice way to get back into the swing of things.

Don’t think there won’t be anymore crazy psychotic challenges though in the future, because I had fun with them too!

Anywho, the challenge will officially begin on at 12am on Monday, June 6th and will end at 11:59pm on Sunday, June 12th.   If you’re interested, let me know in the comments!  I will be posting challenge updates throughout next week and you can keep me updated in the comments, on your own blog (drop me the link though!), on twitter using the #MarathonWeek hashtag, or on my Facebook Page!

And this should go without saying, but…challenge yourself, but don’t KILL yourself.  Be safe while working out and get clearance by your doctor before starting a new workout program, including this workout challenge.  I claim no responsibility for any injuries you might sustain.

Now that that’s out of the way.  I really excited about this, and I hope you’ll join in the fun.

WooT! :)

Dec 012010

Today is the first day of December (where in the hell did the year go?)…

…and this morning, I weighed in at 276.4 pounds.

I am going to lose 20 pounds this month.

That is all…for now.
