As of today, I am officially involved in TWO seperate Biggest Loser challenges at work.

The first challenge started last Tuesday, which, coincidentally (or is it?) enough is the day I offically started this weight loss journey.  That one is a smaller challenge, comprised of just my department.  That challenge is your basic weigh in every week, winner at the end is the one who has lost the largest percentage of weight.  The kicker for that one though, is that if you don’t lose any weight, you have to contribute a dollar towards the prize pot at the end, and if you gain weight, you have to pay a dollar for every pound gained.  HELL NO!  I work hard (actually, I do slack off alot, but still!) for my money, I sure as hell ain’t giving it up.

The second challenge started today, and is actually called a “Team Lean” challenge, and its company wide.  Same basic concept, except instead of being individuals, you are in a team of 3 or more.  My team is comprised of me and two wonderful ladies, who will get their ass kicked if we don’t win (I kid, I kid…kinda).  They haven’t announced what the prize will be for the winner, although its in the past been a gym membership and some cash monies.

Now, I’ve been with my current employer for a little over a year and a half now, and this is the third time around that they’ve had these weight loss challenges (we’re all desk jockies, so its easy to gain weight :-P ).  I’ve signed up for everyone so far, do okay for the first couple weeks, then I give up.  I have a feeling that this one will be different though, a) because I have this awesome blog to motivate me, and b) I really am finally sick and tired of being this way…which I’ve told myself for a long time now, but now I really truly cannot stand it.

I have motivation coming at me from every direction now, WOOHOO!

In other news, I burned 2072 calories today in my workout, but only 1041 of those calories were on the ARC Trainer (I needed a change of pace, so I hit the eliptical).  The brings my total on the ARC Trainer for this week so far to 3494 calories (which is almost an entire pounds worth of calories!).  I will be adding some weights in soon, but I think my workout will still mostly be cardio for right now.

I’m also considering doing the twitter thing in addition to this blog. Partly because I could update that more quickly and regularly, and also because I think I may be able to use it to help curb temptation.  I was having major cravings for junk (specifically the rest of the pumpkin pie in the fridge), and while I did good, I feel it would be easier if I could vent those urges somewhere and get an accountability check from any readers who might be on. Twitter can be updated via cell phone, and I am never more than 2 feet away from my phone, which helps too…AND…I won’t have to be as charming and witty as I am on here all the time (I kid, I kid…seriously that time :-P ). We’ll see how that goes, anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Update: I’m now a twitter..uh..er? Check it out here

TTFN, that’s all for now!
