Dec 282010

Last year, just like nearly everyone else on the planet, I made resolutions for myself for 2010.

Most people usually don’t stick with them, and in a lot of cases don’t even remember them.

Luckily (?) for me, I have documentation in the form of a blog post…so YAY (?) for that!

So how did I do this year, resolution wise?

  • Make $50,000 in 2010.  No….but I did get SUPER close.  With my overtime used up for the month I am going to fall short on this goal, but only by a few hundred bucks.  I can deal with that.  This kind of makes me realize just how dependent I am on overtime though…I either need a better paying job or change some living habits, I think!
  • Buy a car.   No dice…and now I don’t even have a car at all!  The towing company came by to pick up my van, which I donated to charity.  I’m saving money though, and will hopefully by a new ride by Febuary or March.
  • Continue with school.  I’m still in school…so I guess that was a success.  I will be on academic probation for this upcoming semester, because I didn’t finish enough of my courseload, but I’m confident I can make it up.
  • Lose 100 pounds total.  UBER FAIL!  I’m not even close!  I’m still hoping/expecting to have some loss to report for December though, stay tuned!
  • Achieve 15% body fat (or less).   Again, super UBER FAIL!
  • Run a marathon, a half-marathon, and at least two additional road races.  So yeah, I didn’t run a marathon, BUT…I do have two 5ks and a half marathon under my belt, so I’m glad to have mostly achieved this goal.

All in all, some successes, some failures, and some pretty close calls.  2010 had a lot more downs than I would have liked, but I’ve lived, I’ve learned, and hopefully I’ll go into 2011 much stronger.

2011 Resolutions

Yeah, I’ll have ‘em. Do I know what they are yet? Nope!  I don’t need to wait until 2011 to live better, but there are definitely some things I want to do better in the new year.

How did you do with your resolutions? Do you have any for the new year?

  1. I think most of us have got ‘em and like you said, usually by June none of us can even repeat what they were. It’s funny how the stuff that I’ve done most successfully I started after some serious contemplation and with a plan on how to make it happen, regardless of the time of year. Have a good New Year Steve!

  2. “I don’t need to wait until 2011 to live better”. Great outlook and the truth! No day but today. =)

  3. I have goals, so, I guess resolutions. Mostly just to make this year rock and stuff ;) I’ll have to go back and look at my 2010 goals and see how I did. Damn blogumentation.

  4. My resolutions: Write in cursive and take elevenses (mid-morning tea) daily. haha. I’m also blogging every day for at least from now until the end of January. We’ll see how that goes. I’ll probably have more concrete resolutions by Saturday. Probably.

  5. I agree w/ Ryan – I had to go back to my 2010 resolutions blog post to really remember what they were. I remembered maybe 3 of them. And in looking at the list, I didn’t really accomplish much. Maybe 2 or 3 of them. The ones I remembered, I did okay with.

This year, I’m resolving ONE THING and one thing only.
