Progress Report: Week 19
Weight: 237.4 lbs
BMI: 34.6
Weight loss so far: 3.0 lbs gained since last week, 27.6 lbs lost total

This past week was a total week of FAIL, in case you couldn’t tell by my weight gain.
Basically, I didn’t work out as much as I could, and I didn’t watch the diet at all. It’s really as basic as that.
Being almost completely snowed in last week really through me off, and once I had dug my car out on Saturday (and dealt with TWO flat tires) I was too far gone. I tried to make up for lost time at the gym over the weekend, but then yesterday came along and I was completely drained, to the point where my workout consisted of a mere 15 minutes on the ARC Trainer. Ugh.
I also completely bombed just about all of my goals. I bought a shovel and dug my car out, big whoop. But I didn’t do enough overtime or study time, I didn’t run anywhere near 15 miles, and I didn’t even finish Week 1 for my 100 Pushups/200 Situps/200 Squats challenges. So now I’m stuck with trying to restart them (because I do want to do them) and trying to get back on track with everything else.
I want to use this week, largely, to get my bearings back. I’m dug out and able to go into the office, and they aren’t calling for anything Snowmageddons anytime soon, so hopefully I’ll be able to get back into my routine.
I’m also going to go focus on my diet this week. Everything else can fall into place, but the diet wasn’t really in a good place to begin with. Starting today I’m going to try counting calories again, and tonight I’m going to think of a list of trigger foods that need to be blacklisted. I still think moderation is key, and you can still lose weight and not cut yourself off from anything, but I’m not there yet, so we’re going to tweak some things.
I want to thank you guys for your continued support (and Kat for trying to slap some sense into me in her blog comments
), and I also wanted to thank you guys for humoring me with the Brainfreeze post. It seems like there was a decent amount of bumps in the road, but I’m glad that for the most part everyone is doing well. I had been thinking of ways to have an “Open Mic” type thing going on with the occasional post, where don’t bog down the post with my own words, but I let you guys tell your stories in the comments. That wasn’t really the way I wanted to start it, but it was nice to hear from you guys.
Okay, time to get back. Wish me luck!
FIRST!
You know, there are a lot of posts out there from people picking themselves up and dusting themselves off after Snowmageddon. You’ll be okay. You can do it. It happens. The key isn’t NEVER VEERING OFF TRACK, the key is knowing how to get back on.
You don’t need luck, but because you asked I’ll wish it to you anyway. Good luck.

YAY First
I think I’ll be okay too, but I’m still really pissed at myself for letting it happen. It’s too early in the game and I’ve already fallen off of the track several times. Ugh.

I’m right there with you buddy. I had the BEST weekend as far as “fun” goes…but sadly that fun was full of alcohol (one night), cookies, other homemade goodies, and candy for V-day. It was pure happiness but my lifestyle change just took a HUGE explosive leap off Mt. Everest. Back on track now, but I have to weigh-in in just two days. So I feel your pain. Most folks wouldn’t even BELIEVE how much I ate over the weekend! Back to business now right?
Good luck
At least you had an awesome weekend…all in all that is what matters the most.
Definitely back to business now though.
So you kinda sorta, ok, so you fell off the wagon. Sh*t happens, and it happens to the best of us. We’re here for you, buddy!!! Welcome back to the wagon, it’s a grand ol’ time! Let’s bust some @ss this week, k?
I fell off the wagon, then doused it with kerosene and lit a match. That sucka BURNED!!!!!
Ass will be busted this week, I promise you that
I’m holding you to that, just so you know.
I’m holding you to holding me to that.
Well, you’ve already done the most important part of recovery – admitting you have a problem
In all seriousness, it’s just like I talked about in my last post – sometimes life happens and throws us a curveball. And even though we might stumble a bit, as long you don’t let it completely derail what you’ve already done, you’ll recover from this just fine.
Brandon´s last blog ..Don’t allow yourself to get derailed
Your post was a great thing to read this morning (which I read after I posted mine, so I didn’t steal the black and white photo idea from you, I swear!!). Derailments definitely happen, and as long as there allowed to linger (which they won’t), then it will be okay.
Google Chrome won’t ever let me comment on your blog, what the?
Sounds like an awesome game plan. And I’m happy to slap you around anytime, LOL. I am re-starting my challenges this week too, mostly because I don’t think I can up my number of push-ups yet! So, we’ll be at square one together!
I’ve never tried to comment on Chrome…I’m still an IE kinda guy
Hmmm…
And you can slap, kick my ass, whatever you deem necessary
I’m sorry you had a hard time this week, but you know, I don’t see you as someone who “might” make your goal or someone who has to “try”…I just see you doing it. That’s they way you come across to me. I’m so impressed with your progress and I like how you looked at how far you’ve come, how much you’ve lost, how much you’ve changed. Keep looking back at how far you’ve come and pre-write a wonderful PROUD post of how well you’ve done this week and then post it next week so we can love all over you!
I…really REALLY like that idea
Wow. Thank you for that, and for having faith in me!
This will probably be followed by a big loss. Weight like that is probably due to a water weight gain, or maybe a water related loss last week. While I know the week was less productive and you ate bad, that’s an extra 10,000+ caloric intake for a week. You’ve turned your body into a calorie burning machine, so something probably isn’t right. That could always been a good trip to the bathroom too.
Just hang in there for another month doing something, and spring and warmer weather will be here before you know it.
I. Cannot. Wait. Until. Spring.
I hope you’re right about the big loss…and I kind of have a feeling (or at least, I hope) I won’t be letting anyone down with that.
I have been to the bathroom since posting too, so we’ll see
Don’t forget you have to eat an extra 3,500 calories to gain a REAL pound. Don’t let the water weight fool you. Face it, sometimes the scale is the devil. Pick yourself up & dust yourself off. It’s a new day
This is very true. I really don’t think I ate an extra 10,000some calories, but I know I did bring about a decent amount of damage to myself.
Definitely is a new day though
Happens to all of us. Good that you posted anyway!

Thanks!
Buck up little soldier! So you had a bad week! We all do! The important thing is to get back on track ASAP and not let it completely derail you. The next day is always a new day. Reflect on what you did, and next time you want to do it, think about how you felt the last time you did it. Uhhhh, make sense? LOL. Anyway, You should try planning your food out for a few days. Like I do. Just try it once. I swear it’s the best thing that I came up with because it helps me stay on track so much!
Meal planning is a great idea, one of those ones that I’ve wanted to do but have never actually done (don’t you just love how that works out)
Ah, no worries you had a bad week, who doesn’t? Just get back into the routine, count the calories and workout hard and next week will be great.
Good luck!

Thanks Jay, I hope next week is great!
We all have bad weeks. It happens. The most important part is getting back on track quickly. That’s where I fail. I’m sure it won’t happen to you.
I’m finding that when I get off track, the first thing I need to do is start eating well first. If I’m not eating well, it makes it so much more difficult to get out of bed and exercise in the morning.

I’ve definitely been slow to get back on track before, luckily the blog is helping with that. I definitely agree that eating well has to be the first step, otherwise any other efforts are in vain.
Good luck getting back at it, counting those calories will be a great start. Try taking pictures of everything you eat, I’m finding that is helping me. Good luck!

I was taking pictures during my last calorie counting endeavor, should try it again this time around too. Thanks!
