…Back yet?  Cool deal! And now on to our regular scheduled post…

Progress Report: Week 18
Weight:  234.4 lbs
BMI: 34.1
Weight loss so far:  0.0 lbs lost since last week,  30.6 lbs lost total

What a shitastic day, and it’s only just beginning!

  • I got almost no sleep due to a bulldozer loading the huge piles of snow into dump trucks.  They did this ALL FRICKIN’ NIGHT.  Who in the hell sanctioned that?  It could have easily be done while people were at work during the day, or at least awake.
  • When I did finally doze off, I was awoken to the sound of water dripping.  I live on the top floor of my apartment building, and all of the snow on the roof was causing water to leak in between the walls.
  • I had to have a lukewarm shower this morning because the hot water is acting weird.
  • I walked to work this morning because my car was still buried, this would normally be great, except my socks were slipping down off my feet, causing basically barefeet in a pair of workboot-ish type shoes.  Which means two big ol’ blisters on the top of my feet. Ugh.
  • I didn’t lose any damn weight this week.
  • Oh, and they are calling for ANOTHER 12-18 inches of snow between tonight and tomorrow.

That’s the same scale picture from last week, I took a new one but it was kind of pointless.  I’m not really liking this pattern thats developing.  Sucky weigh in, good weigh in, sucky weigh in, good weigh in, sucky weigh in…and I especially don’t like it when my sucky weight in leads to no loss.

Here is my run down of my goals for the week, as well:

  • Eight hours of overtime. FAIL! Only completed 6.5 hours.
  • Six hours of study time. FAIL! Only completed 3 hours.
  • Complete the initial test for the 100 Pushups Challenge. SUCCESS!  9 Pushups for my initial test, Day 1 of the challenge went off w/o a hitch too.
  • Complete the initial test for the 200 Situps Challenge. SUCCESS!  17 Situps for initial test, smooth sailing for Day 1 as well.
  • Complete the initial test for the 200 Squats Challenge. SUCCESS! 72 Squats for initial test, started Day 1 of challenge at Week 3, so WooT!
  • Attempt one sitting of Yoga (via the Yoga for Regular Guys DVD). SUCCESS! Completed as part of my Snowmageddon Workout Improv.
  •

So once again, workouts are fine, I’m just failing at the rest of life.  Okay, that may be a touch overdramatic, but bad days tend to bring out the dramatics for me.

Here are my goals for the upcoming week.

  • Eight hours of overtime. I’m not taking this down until I actually complete it.
  • Six hours of study time. Same with this one.
  • Complete Week 1 for the 100 Pushups Challenge.
  • Complete Week 1 for the 200 Situps Challenge.
  • Complete Week 1 for the 200 Squats Challenge. This is actually week 3, but I’m only on my first week of the program.
  • Run 15 miles. I’m falling behind with the running.  I’m starting to miss it.
  • Buy/find a snow shovel. I don’t have one, I’ve needed one several times this winter already.  Waiting for the snow to melt around my car is not a viable option. I need a shovel.
  •

With all of that said, I think I would be amiss if I didn’t point out at least one good thats happened recently:

I BEAT NEW SUPER MARIO BROTHERS WII

    WOOT!

Ahh…I feel a wee bit better now that I’ve reminded myself of that.  You all have a good day :)

    1. Crappy about all the snow you’re getting. If it’s any comfort, we’re supposed to get some snow on Wednesday. How much snow that’ll be, I don’t know. I doubt it’ll be as much as you’re getting.

Also, one crappy weigh-in doesn’t negate the fact you’ve lost over 30 lbs. That’s nothing to just cast aside.

And in case you’re wondering why I’m up… I’m an insomniac. I didn’t wet the bed no matter what you hear. *coughs*

      Have a good one, chief.

    2. I read your post first. Sue me. :-D

Well, $*&%^% on the weigh-in! And it does sound like you’ve had a shitastic start to your day. Hope it gets better. There’s always tomorrow…oh wait, was that supportive? :-)

    3. I came over from BGB. I can’t believe how much snow everyone is getting. It’s just rainy in coastal NC. Good luck on your goals this week!

    4. Congrats on the guest post. That’s an honor. :)

And boo on the weight. But at least it wasn’t a gain. That’s something… right? If it makes you feel any better, I’m well on track to pull a goose egg myself on Friday.

And I’m so going to start stealing your weekly goals. It’s a good idea. I like it. :) Well, not literally your weekly goals… I’ll make my own… you get the gist.

    5. Go get yourself a shovel and just start cleaning off sidewalks and cars and whatever else is buried. Get a head start on the next foot of snow, and get a daylong workout in the process.

    6. Do you watch The Biggest Loser? It seems that they frequently run into similar patterns. One big loss, one little loss (or no loss). I don’t recall all the details, but the trainers talk about it and their logic seems to make sense. It might be worth a little digging, maybe your “bad” weeks are just perfectly natural parts of the losing weight process.

    7. I read your post first too. LOL.

I am sorry about your sucky day! Isn’t it weird how if a day is going to be sucky, everything about it is sucky? I get them that way all the time! LOL.

I am sick to death of the snow here too. We have had snow, mildly mind you, every single day for weeks, all day long! Today is the first day where we actually have some sun. I hope it stays for a while. I think even my dog is starting to suffer from seasonal affective disorder!

    9. Ugh, fair enough, that sounds like a horrible day. It can only go up from here, right? If you want a good laugh, go on youtube and look up “apache” by Tommy Seebach. Sometimes watching something hilariously random helps me out of my funk.

      BODA lose weight

    10. I’m well too familiar with this pattern. If I ever have two weeks of good losses (at this point, two losses, PERIOD!) I’ll backflip off the scale.
It really sucks when you don’t lose because I’m always so wowed by your workouts. And then I think if *you* didn’t lose as hard as you go, how will *I* lose? Scurrry!
I hope your day got better and that the dreaded snow leaves soon. Congrats on the guest post (I commented on it…loved it and agreed with it!!)

    11. Shovel? Who needs a shovel? Think of how many calories you would burn by digging your care out with a spoon! hahaha. Hey life could be worse, Eventually the snow will melt. It can’t last forever!

    12. What are you eating? I think you should take a look at your calorie intake and see what the cause of not losing any weight.

      Any fast foods?

    13. Hey man, great work on the challenges this week. Don’t let the snow get you down too much, but I know how you feel. It’s always been very hard for me to get out much during the winter, and the elliptical can get boring after a while.

    14. I hear ya on the shitty weigh in/good weigh in pattern! It sucks completely! Stay in it though! You are changing your LIFE, not just the number on a scale!

    15. Ah, tired of the .4 club eh? Well, join me in the zero club for this week!
Hopefully it’ll trend back up next week – that’s what I’m telling myself!

And a big ole congratulations for beating mario! Did you get all the star coins too? are you on world 9 or did you conquer that too? I’m still on 8 but I have a lot of star coins to go back and get if I want to do 9.

Sorry you’re having a shitastic day – Off to read your guest post now!

    16. I really liked your guest post. Very well put. Me thinks it’s my fav post of yours!
I love that you celebrate beating Mario.

    17. Working hard and not losing weight is discouraging sometimes. I have all my clients weigh, take inches, body fat, and pictures to help them see the benefits of being on a program that works. You don’t always see results in pounds lost on the scale.

This is my first time on the site. Congratulations on getting to where you are at. Keep up the good work.

    18. Hey Steve, I enjoyed your post over at BGB. So refreshing to hear a man’s perspective on all this. I am in the trenches too and about 10 pounds behind you. Lets cheer eachother on – http://desperatelyseekingsizeten.blogspot.com and I’ll look for you on Twitter :)
