So yeah, this is turning out to be an awesome week!

Not only did I bust out of the 240s with my weigh in yesterday, but I downloaded the newest (and long awaited) album from the lostprophets.  The album is called The Betrayed, and its the follow up to their 2006 album Liberation Transmission.

If you don’t know who the lostprophets are, shame on you, they are only like the best.band.ever!

Seriously, they rock!

Okay, moving on…if you are anything like me (which in most cases, you’ll hope you aren’t, but work with me here), music is almost essential to ensuring you have a good workout.

Think about it, it revs you up, it gives you focus, it distracts from the timer on the machine, etc..etc..etc..

Alot of people have a specific playlist, or playlists, for when they workout.  I don’t per se, what I usually end up doing is pulling up a specific album on my iPod, and playing it the whole way through, whether I like the whole thing or not.  I do this because I really suck at making playlists, and my iPod library is spread between my laptop and desktop so its kind of pain in the butt (so, in short, I’m lazy and don’t feel like it).

Regardless though, there are songs in those albums that stand out to me, and I will either repeat those songs, or seek out just those songs.  Here is a sampling of those songs:

  • Falling Down, by Atreyu
  • Slow Burn, by Atreyu
  • Bat County, by Avenged Sevenfold
  • The Diary of Jane, by Breaking Benjamin
  • Tell Me, by Dropping Daylight
  • Handlebars, by Flobots
  • The River, by Good Charlotte (featuring M. Shadows and Synyster Gates)
  • This Love, This Hate, by Hollywood Undead
  • Paradise Lost, by Hollywood Undead
  • Nothing Special, by Illscarlet
  • Don’t Stop, by innerpartysystem
  • Bad Romance, by Lady Gaga
  • Paparazzi, by Lady Gaga
  • Points of Authority, by Linkin Park
  • In the End, by Linkin Park
  • A Town Called Hypocrisy, by lostprophets
  • 4:AM Forever, by lostprophets
  • Last Train Home, by lostprophets
  • Shake Tramp, by Mariana’s Trench
  • Celebrity Status, by Mariana’s Trench
  • All The Right Moves, by OneRepublic
  • Everybody Loves Me, by One Republic
  • One Man Army, by Our Lady Peace
  • Funhouse, by Pink
  • Prayer for the Refugee, by Rise Against
  • Injection, by Rise Against
  • Savior, by Rise Against
  • Take My Hand, by Simple Plan
  • Still Waiting, by Sum 41
  • The Hell Song, by Sum 41
  • Tomorrow In The Bottle, by Timbaland (featuring Chad Kroeger & Sebastian)
  • Long Way Down, by Timbaland (featuring Daughtry)
  • Contagious, by Trapt
  • Stand Up, by Trapt
  • Candle (Sick and Tired), by The White Tie Affair

Okay, so for all practical purposes that list could be a playlist in of itself, but I don’t limit myself to those songs.  That list also provides a pretty decent sampling of my overall taste in music, but I really listen to just about anything (except country).

Also, of that list, I want to call out one specific song, and that is Paradise Lost, by Hollywood Undead.  I don’t know what it is, but when my motivation is waning, or if I want to push myself to do just a little bit more, I will play that song and my mindset will result itself.  I’ve added miles to my walks, minutes to my eliptical/ARC Trainer workouts, speed to my runs, all because of that song.

So what about you?  What is your workout playlist?  Do you have one song that revs you up and gets you going when your mindset starts to wane?  I’d love to know what gets everyone going, so that I can steal draw inspiration from your song list to add to my own.

Progress Report: Week 15
Weight: 237.8 lbs
BMI: 34.6
Weight loss so far: 4.8 lbs lost since last week, 27.2 lbs lost total

About…damn…time… :)

I had been struggling with the scale for a while now, and wasn’t really making any headway.  I had been in the 240s for a couple months, and I was getting really sick of it.  So this was nice.  I’m out of the 240′s, and I’m only a couple pounds aware from a 30 pound total loss.

Okay, it’s more than nice, it’s freaking awesome!

I did make some changes this past week, like I said I was going to.  Overall I don’t think they were huge changes, but apparently they were enough to shock my system and get my metabolism going.  I still maybe had one (or two) too many cookies, but I made it work.  Almost every meal this past week was a home cooked meal, I practiced more moderation in terms of what I did eat, I incorporated some more fruits and vegetables into the diet, and I didn’t snack as much.

Workout wise, I did alot of walking over the weekend, and I reincorporated some longer ARC Trainer workouts back into the mix.  I didn’t do much in terms of running, but I’m hoping to change that this week, as overall my legs are feeling alot better.

It’s really nice to see everything I’m doing starting to really pay off again, especially since I still have a long way to go.

So yeah…WooT!

How have you all done this past week?

TGIF everyone, here is my second update for 2010 on the various challenges I am involved in.  WooT!

NEW YEAR CHALLENGES

New Year 100 Mile Running Challenge
-We’re halfway through the month and I only have 33.44 miles under my belt.  UGH!  I think what I’m going to do for the time being is focus on finishing this challenge as fast as possible, then pouring the rest of my time into the biking challenge.  Overall, everyone is doing an awesome job though, everyone involved should be beyond proud :)

New Year 500 Mile Biking Challenge
-I’m in second with 79.47 miles, but that isn’t saying much considering that Alex is in first place with 214.17 miles.  I’m gonna keep at it though, and do the best I can, but I want to at least complete ONE of my own challenges.

That’s it for my own challenges, good luck to everyone participating.  Still time to get involved and see what you can do, so click on one of the above links and have at it!

PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week:

  • Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–still only down 2.4 pounds, but hey, I’m down.  Hopefully the scale will be nicer next Tuesday.
  • Run/walk/jog 200 miles–33.44 miles down…getting there.  Going to try to up the mileage this next week though, even if I have to walk some of it.
  • Strength train at least twice a week–Yeah, no, fail.  I didn’t do any strenght training this past week :(
  • Run a 5k road race–SUCCESS!  Ran the Mighty Medford on Sunday. WooT!  Still planning on running the Bear Run 4 Miler on February 7th.
  • Finish at least one of this semesters college courses–I am going to work on this a bit tonight, and moreso on the weekend.  Still confident about this one.
  • Beat Super Mario Brothers Wii–I beat the first castle of World 5.  Slowly, but surely. Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes:  I am a Notary Public for the State of Maryland.  After I got my associates degree I really wanted to try for a job as a paralegal in a law firm, so I became a Notary thinking it would help give me some credibility.  Funny how things work out though, b/c I don’t work for a law firm and I’ve never even notarized anything.  D’oh!
  • Not as exciting as skydiving, I know.  I’ll try to do better next week :-P

    HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting the Habit.A.Week Challenge. The “habit” for this week is to MOVE! Basically, take steps to move around and increase your fitness level.  I’d like to think I’m doing okay with this, I ran a 5k, I have worked out almost every day this week, I walked to work on Wednesday, etc..etc.. One could always do more though.

And…that’s it?  How are you all doing with your goals?

Hope you all have a great weekend!
