Besides moving at an extremely slow pace, I actually feel pretty good for a Monday.  I don’t know if it was the 45 minute ARC Trainer workout this morning, or the lukewarm shower that followed, but today seems like its going to be be okay.

Here is a quick rundown of my weekend, in bullet form (ala Jessie).

  • Saturday and Sunday workouts kinda rocked.  Saturday workout consisted of an 8.7 mile walk on Saturday, which I did while wearing a 25 pound weighted vest and 5 pound ankle weights.  In hindsight this was probably a very bad idea (thanks David for the heads up!).  There are many good ways to get more out of walk, weighing yourself down really isn’t one of them.  Sunday workout consisted of a 5.6 miles walk (to one of the office gyms and back).  While I was at the gym I completed 60 minutes on the ARC Trainer and 30 minutes on the exercise bike. WooT!
  • I finally realized that I really REALLY should get new shoes.  I love my current shoes (Nike Reax), but I looked at the soles of them and realized that I had worn away a large portion of the tread.  I still have some money left over from paying bills so I’m going to try to head to a running store tonight or tomorrow to see what I can do.  I put these shoes through alot, and I wore them as regular shoes alot too, so I guess it was their time.

  • I watched a ton of CRAP on TV.  After working out on Saturday and Sunday mornings I didn’t feel like doing much else, so a large chunk of Saturday was devoted to a bunch of crap movies on Lifetime (the majority of which involved Teen Pregnancy, culminating the “World Premier Event” of the Pregnancy Pact), while a large portion of Sunday evening was devoted to Chowdown Countdown on the Travel Channel.
  • I made it to World 6 in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and made it past the first castle.  The fact that you can only save your game after the castles is really pissing me off too.
  • I took part in an event on Twitter that I believe is now being called Big Love.  It was between myself, MrsFatass, Nomorebacon, and Slimmin’ Sam.  I don’t really know to describe it, but you can scroll through my twitter page if you are truly curious.  You can also follow me while you’re at it, cuz that’d rock!

That’s pretty much it as far as the weekend went.  I have at least one more workout today to help ensure a nice weigh in tomorrow, and then probably some more crap TV tonight. WooT!

Happy Monday, everyone!  How was your weekend?

  1. Hey! A shout out! Love it. And I love that you watch Lifetime. Seriously.

    Now go get some shoes.

  2. Sounds like a good weekend. My goal this week is to add more to my workouts. Been starting slow to build the habit. My Wii games are the fit plus LOVE it when I break a level. Got a new game this weekend – Let’s Dance so more levels to challenge me!

    • Thanks for stopping by :) Thats great that you are trying to make a habit out of it, WooT! I need to at least get Wiifit or something…I feel I’m missing out on a great opportunity w/ the Wii

  3. You really need some new shoes, man! I replace every 300 miles! And Lifetime…really?! That’s kickass!

    • Haha…I dunno how “kickass” that is…but thanks :-P I’m sure I’ve put well over 300 miles on my shoes for as long as I’ve had them. New shoes will ONLY be workout shoes though.

  4. Tina and I went to a friend’s house last night, and he knew about the various warp zones, etc. We beat Super Mario Bros Wii last night, and the ending was awesome. Lots of cool homages to previous Mario games, including one from the original SMB in 1985 that made me really happy. Even though it killed me twice.

Please understand, when I say We beat, I was along for the ride, and he did most of the playing, as he’s beat it by himself.

I still want the game, because I’ve only seen parts of worlds 1, 5, 8, and the extra world 9. :)

    • That’d be cool to see…if I ever get there :-P

I dunno how willing I’ll be to play beyond World 8, the same might end up in a bonfire once I beat it :)

  5. I think I need to get a Wii!

    • @AndrewENZ — A Wii is awesome, although I don’t play mine nearly enough. I need to buy Super Mario Wii.

Steve, thanks for the link. I hope the walking with weights link helped. While it may work for some people, I just don’t recommend it. Good luck on the shoe-buying adventure. Hope the running store hooks you up.

    • You really do, yes :) I had been wanting one for a long time but finally went and bought one after Christmas. I love it :)

    • Yes, yes you do Andrew. And it sounds like I need to get Super Mario Brothers Wii!

  6. Sounds like the life! This weekend and still today I’m working on replacing a fuel pump in my Mustang GT.. not as easy as I thought. I worked out hard the past couple days and I”m about to hit the gym again today. Gearing up now. :)

  7. Your workouts make me burn calories just reading them….daaamn! :-)

I can’t WAIT for you to get to Level 8 with all that lava!

I’m stuck on Level 9 with 3 things to go and I just can’t do them. I’m on like week 2 of trying. I suuuuuuck. And it’s gonna bug me b/c it’s on my NY Resolution list! :(

Good luck on the weigh in tomorrow!!

    • I am not looking forward to Level 8 in all.

In fact, I’m GLAD you are stuck on level 9, b/c now you get to feel my pain! BWAHAHAHAHA!

      :)

      • No level 8 is fun…i mean it’s hard but it’s fun! To me, there’s two kinds of Mario: Hard, but possible–which is fun.
hard, kidna impossible, which is just frustrating. And no fun!
        Kinda like running! hehe.

  8. Great work, yet again. I’m with Craig – I can feel myself burning calories just reading about your workouts!

Interesting post too about why you shouldn’t wear weights while walking, good to know.

    • It was definitely interesting, as I never really thought anything of it.

I try to kick a certain level of ass in my workouts, but will it be enough? Guess we’ll find out tomorrow!

  9. Good job with the weekend workouts. If they crash you, you know they were good :) I put away Christmas stuff finally and vacuumed 40 stairs. That should count for something. :) I did a little cardio on Sunday too. Life is revolving around these workouts I tell ya. Not a bad thing! :) Best
