Happy Wednesday everyone.  For those of you who work Monday-Friday jobs…the week is halfway over. W o o T.

Had some random updates I wanted to post, and some housekeeping that needed to be done, so here goes….

a)  Recieved a request for a progress pic, so here goes:

You can click on the image to see the full sized version.  What you have is a pic of me at the very beginning (265 pounds), from week 5 (252 pounds), and from week 8 (245 pounds).  I don’t know what happened to make the last pic SO MUCH BRIGHTER, but overall I can see a difference.  I can also see that I am in really REALLY bad need of a haircut, which is a situation I hope to rectify soon.  At least I got rid of that hairy crap on my face.

b)  I’ve gotten really bad about posting those Team Lean letters we get sent at work as part of the Tean Lean Challenge, so I’ve compiled them all here.

That’s as far as they’ve gotten so far.  As far as the Tean Lean Challenge goes, I’m the only one in my group who has really lost any weight, so we aren’t going to win this one (asses will be kicked, I assure you, j/k).  BUT, my unit is doing that seperate Biggest Loser Challenge, and I’m pretty sure I’m in the lead for that one.  WooT!

c) The Marathon Week Challenge started today. WooHoo!  As of my writing this there are 7 challengers (including myself).  I know we can do this, and I know YOU CAN too.  You can still register and get started.

d)  To go along w/Marathon Week.  I woke up this morning early this morning and completed 3 miles on the treadmill.  Usually I say I walked/jogged/ran those 3 miles, but today I’m proud to say that I only jogged/ran them.  I completed those 3 miles in 34min and 34sec.  I had THOUGHT I completed one of my goals involving completing 30mins consecutively, but I just went back and reread it and saw that I set the goal at 5.5mph, whereas I was only going between 5.0 and 5.2mph for the most part.  D’oh!  I can’t strikethrough that one after all…yet.

e)  This isn’t so much an update or housekeeping as it is a rant, but here goes.  I love The Biggest Loser. I didn’t really start watching until Season 4, and I didn’t watch ALL of Season 6 (b/c I thought most of the contestants were scheming c*ntbags), but otherwise I’ve watched it pretty much religously.  With this season, I’m voting for Amanda to make it to the final three, and I will totally admit that I cried like a baby during the episode when Abby was eliminated…

…with that said, the product placement is getting rediculous.  What. The. F*ck.  I always thought the Subway visits were a little over the top, but with the Multi Grain cheerios thing last week, and with the Extra Gum advertisement in Bob’s motivational video to Amanda, I’ve just had enough.  I doubt any NBC execs read this blog, but if anyone is, Dude!…you are taking ALOT away from the show by turning into a two hour mother f*cking commercial, so knock it off.  We get it, product exists that help people lose weight.  Maybe, just maybe, mention them in passing, or sell them f*cking ad space during the ACTUAL COMMERCIAL BREAKS.

That’s all I got.  I’m in a super good mood after my run, and I’m not going to let the Biggest Loser harsh that mellow.  You all have a splendid day…and register for my challenge!  All participants get a free trip to Hawaii*!

  1. LOL…everytime they break out the gum on the Biggest Loser I crack up. It’s sooo obvious. They do the same with Subway too! I love it when they take the team to Subway and sneak in all their catchphrases while they are ordering. I know them because I worked there when I was a young’un!

Thanks for the pic–you can totally see a change…you’re melting away!

Congrats on the 3 miles. You’re so gonna whip arse at this challenge! I have been trying so hard to up my jogging skillz, but it’s tough. Are you having any trouble keeping a good pace on breathing? That seems to be my problem…I jog for a while and am fine then just can’t breathe. I’ve tried to research “breathing techniques” but it was confusing. I’m sure it’s something that will come in time, though. :)

I am conflicted over Amanda and Liz. I LOVE Amanda…have since it started, but Liz grew on me and the fact she was older and hung in was cool. Plus she is funny in her personal diaries or whatever they call it. I’ve enjoyed this season…I liked Abby and I hated to see Rebecca go, too. Can’t wait to see how everyone looks at the finale!

  2. The Subway junk is “tolerable”, but yeah, I’m sick of the catchphrases and hearing about all of their wonderful healthy choices. SHUT THE F*CK UP, ALREADY!

    :-P

I haven’t had an issue w/ breathing, just the side stitch, even though it wasn’t that bad this morning. I’m a mouth breather so I dunno if that has to do w/ anything. I’ve “heard” you should breathe through your nose but I can’t do it.

I dunno about Liz, she’s funny, and is really good at being a crotchety old woman, but in that regard, she is kind of a b*tch. Amanda always seemed cool, I want her in the finals but I don’t know if I necessarily need her to win, I’m still undecided in that regard. I liked Abby and I thought it was awesome that she making the most out of the experience, especially after losing her family. I had to go visit my family the next evening.

  3. Yeah, Abby impressed me in so many ways. I would have fallen to pieces if that had been me. She was truly an inspiration.
I agree tho Liz can be a beeyotch, but she has made me LOL a few times, too!

I’m off to eat my lunch….some of Bob Harper’s gum he says is so filling…and only 5 calories!! hehe…what if I had posted a link to it?

  4. He he, off to eat some of Bob Harper’s gum! Funny.

I have been humming and haaing over whether or not to join your challenge. My biggest factor is that my work weeks (next week is one) have me so exhausted that I am afraid I won’t be able to keep up the miles.

I will think more on it.

  5. The ads are annoying, but this trend is only going to get worse. DVR is eating into ads because people (me included) skip through them, so they’re turning to product placement. Storm chasers had a small version of this every time they showed a map, it had Google and AT&T logos on it.

This show just happens to lend itself to easy product placements, and it has good ratings so I’m sure those product placements bring in decent revenue for the show. Overall I enjoy the show and am trying to use it to keep myself motivated on my diet, so if I have to deal with a poorly acted, campy product placement I will.

Now what really gets me boiling is all the stupid pop-in ads for other stuff while you’re watching one show. They’re getting larger and larger and really take away from TV shows in general. That and the massive channel logos everywhere. It’s like the digital version of tagging their territory. We know who we’re watching, we don’t need a huge chunk of the screen to remind us. Especially bad when these things sometimes jump in front of something you need to see or read in a show.

Finale, I don’t think either girl has a shot. These two guys are massive from their starting weight, and they both have a good athletic drive now that they’re losing weight. I expect it to be a pair of record setting losses, with brown team guy winning. I’m sure they will all look amazing though, I love the finales and hope to have similar results…. one day…

  6. @Craig – maybe I should start doing totally random placement crap on my site. That’d be awesome, right? Short answer: F*CK NO! haha…I’m even iffy about putting Google Adsense on here, I’m not going to go and mention Subway, Extra, Cheerios, Brita, etc…etc…every other sentence (not for a hefty price, anyway, hehehe)

@Karyn – first off, HOWDY! Secondly, I know it seems daunting, but I’d say give it a go (I’m biased though). If you can’t do it, then you can’t do it…but if you try? Then that’s just awesome :)

@Juncti – I’m guilty of skipping the commercials too w/ DVR, and the logos thrown around all over the place is a bit silly too. I doubt its going to change either, but I’m not going to like it! Ha! I don’t think either girl has a shot at the finale either, but I also didn’t think Helen was going to win last season (I was bettin’ on Tara). I’d rather see Danny (the brown team guy) win over Rudy b/c he seems like he can be a tool. He screwed over Shay in that one challenge and then pulled that “no trust” BS w/ Rebecca. He’s playin the game, which yeah, you gotta do, but it still sucks when it gets down to that.

  7. Okay, you twisted my rubber arm. I joined your challenge! It might just get me past the work week slump!

  8. Steve – you look great, the difference is amazing!!

  9. You know “product placement” has become a bit of an obsession with me. It’s crazy, ’cause I can’t watch a show or movie without noticing how often they hawk a particular brand. It’s become so obvious and it takes away from what you enjoy about the show.

Anyway, you’ll hit that 5.5 / 30 minute mark more sooner than later. Keep it up….

  10. hiya Steve! Thanks for stopping by my neck o’ the woods! You can really see a difference in your progress pictures! Congrats!

I <3 the Biggest Loser too. I'm rooting for Danny all the way. And dude – I couldn't believe he lost almost a pound a day while at home. (!!!) The only thing kinda weird this season was the Liz/Danny relationship…It seemed (to me at least) that she would have wanted to be more than just friends had he not been married….

but yeah, the product placement has gotten to be way too much. I don't mind learning about the new products if they'd do them as part of the "trainer tips" they give or something. The contrived b.s. is just that. B.S.

  11. Doh, I was trying to leave a pic of Extra Gum on here to be funny but it didn’t work! :)
